I don’t make Swiss rolls, and I never thought I will make one, but I saw this cute Swiss roll in the net on some Japanese sites

 first I did not understand any thing, but I find an English Japanese blog explain the technique, and it was easy so I go for it and make a simple design for the first time


1 cup Cake flour or all purpose flour

1 cup Sugar

3 Eggs

4 tablespoons cooking oil

5 tablespoons hot water

1 tsp Vanilla extract 

1 tea spoon baking powder

2 table spoons of cocco powder + 1 table spoon of water (or you can use food coloring instead) 

Jam for filling


1.Preheate your oven into 180 c

 2. Prepare your baking tray, line with parchment paper or baking sheet, grease some oil on it with a      brush

3. Separate the egg white from the yolk

4. In a large bowl, mix egg yolks, vanilla extract, half amount of sugar, cooking oil and water                       together with a hand whisk, mix well and add in sifted flour, mix well again, set aside

5. Whisk egg white to foamy and add the other half of sugar, continue to whisk egg white to smooth        peak form at medium speed

6. Take out 2 tbsp egg yolk mixture and 2 tsp egg white mix with cocco powder and the water, 

7. Put the mixture in a freezing bag and make a small hole in its edge then pipe your design on                   baking tray


8. Put the tray in preheated oven 1 minute. Get it out and let it cool completely.

9.   Fold 1/3 of the egg white to the egg yolk mixture, fold well with a rubber spatula and fold in the         remaining egg white.  Pour the plain mixture into your tray. Level the surface gently, knock the         tray on table top to remove air bubbles trapped in the batter

10. Bake for 15 mints.

 11. Turn sponge onto a plastic sheet. Gently peel off baking sheet from the bottom of sponge and             invert the sponge with skin facing up. Spread an even layer of jam over top of sponge. Gently roll        up the sponge to make a Swiss roll. (Place a tea towel underneath to prevent plastic sheet slip)              Wrap with plastic sheet or cling wrap and chill it for one hour.

Mabroosheh ……….. jam cookie bars


This  recipe is simple, fast, easy and it can be freezed as a dough.


3 cups flour

3 eggs

1 cup  sugar

1 cup butter

2 teaspoons of vanilla

2 teaspoons of baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

Any kind of jam for the filling 


 1.Preheate your oven  into 180 c

2.   Mix the flour with the baking bowder and the salt 

3. Beat the eggs with the vanilla , add the sugar and the butter,  mix them until  combine 

4.  Add the flour mix  until the dough comes together. 

5. Spread    2/3 the dough into your tray and press it  evenly in the pan, ( i like mine to be very thin)


6.Put the 1/3 of the dough in the freezer.                                 

7. Spread the  jam evenly over the base layer of dough


8.Take the remaining  frozen dough and coarsely grate over the jam layer.



 9.Bake until golden brown, approximately 35-45 minutes

 10 . Cool completely before cutting. Sprinkle the tops with powdered sugar if you like.

Draw on your cake

 I hate frosting (too many fats) and I am bad on it, so I came up with alternative way to  decorate my cake: simply draw on it


 Make your favorite cake recipe, Take two table spoon of the dough for every color and add food coloring to it, simply put them in freezing bags, and make a small hole in the edge


Pour your cake on a tray and start drawing what ever you love

Put the tray on your preheated oven and cook it until done

THE DARING BAKERS’ FEBRUARY, 2012 CHALLENGE: Quick! Gimme a Flavor! 😉 (Quick Bread)

Blog-checking lines: The Daring Bakers’ February 2012 host was – Lis! Lisa stepped in last minute and challenged us to create a quick bread we could call our own. She supplied us with a base recipe and shared some recipes she loves from various websites and encouraged us to build upon them and create new flavor profiles.

* Although Lisa provide a different recipes for sweet and savory breads I used  one of my own (I take it a long time ago from hawwa world forums but I didn’t make it)


½ cup oil

4 large eggs

½ teaspoon Vinegar

2 cups all-purpose (plain) flour

2 tablespoons sugar

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup cheddar cheese cut into small cubes

1 cup white cheese cut into small cubes

1/2 teaspoons baking soda

1 cup Fresh thyme leaves

1 cup Yogurt

¼ cup chopped Fresh mint


1. Preheat your oven 180°C

2. Grease your pan with cooking oil and flour.( Lisa Insisted that we must make a quick bread in either a loaf shape or muffin/popover shape but I don’t have any so I used a round cake pan)

3. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a bowl

4. In a separate bowl whisk the eggs, vinegar and sugar until pale then add the oil and mix well.

5. Add cheeses, thyme and mint. Stir just until moist.

6. add flour mix and Yogurt and mix

7. Pour batter into prepared pan.set aside for 15 mintes to rest

8.Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a cake tester comes out clean.

9. Cool in pan  for 10 minutes, then remove from pan and cool completely before slicing


The colors cake

Today my little girl leen woke up crying for a cake ( she always does) , so I decide to make  one , sally suggest we make the rainbow cake (or the colors cake) –the only cake that she eats , the colors cake is the delicious cake ever the colors make it too yummy ,she said – and she helped  me in  making it ,

The recipe:

Any cake recipe you love


Pre-heat the oven to 180 C

Grease a round pan and set aside (I use 2pans 20 cm each)

Divide the batter into 4 equal parts or the numbers you want

Add food coloring and mix them well ( make sure than you keep the same consistency for the batter after coloring, if you use coco powder add some water or milk to keep the same consistency)


Assemble the cake:

•arrange your colored cake batter in the order you want

• Place the greased pan on a flat surface

• Pour 1 Tbsp of first color in the middle of the pan (I used an ice cream scope for this)


• pour  1 Tbsp of the second batter over the first one

•  pour  1 Tbsp of the third batter over the second one (and try to pour it always in middle)

• pour i tbl of the forth batter over the third one

• Repeat with the four batters alternately till the entire batter is used up

• Do not even touch the pan in the whole process; the batter will spread by itself and reach the circumference

• bake for 35-40 minutes, till done or the toothpick inserted comes out clean

• Once done, remove from pan  and let cool

• Once fully cooled, slice the cake with a serrated knife (make sure that you cut it form the center to see the best colors pattern)

i want to make a cake with rainbow colors but we run out of the colors, maybe next time

orange carrot cake

I have a huge amount of carrots and oranges  , so i decide to make  a cake since orange and carrot  are good friends so  i google some carrot cake recipes then i replace the nuts with orange zest and it was amazing:

this is my first carrot cake so  i was afraid  it will not be so good but i will take the risk

the recipe

3 cups shredded carrots

2 cups flour

 2 cups  sugar

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

 2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

4 eggs

3/4 cup oil

1 cup orange zest (the amount is too much but the  taste  is so good )


Preheat your oven to 180 C and center your oven rack

In a bowl whisk the flour,baking powder, baking soda, salt.

In a separate bowl whisk the eggs, a Little of the orange zest and sugar until pale then add the oil and mix well.

Add the flour mixture to the egg mixture and mix well, the mixture will be heavy

   add the carrot and the orange zest and mix    .

Pour the mixture into a greased cake tin and bake  until a knife inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean
